Upper School 8-11

Well qualified, committed and dedicated staff provide extensive learning opportunities that extend and build upon previously acquired knowledge.

The curriculum is broad, balanced and designed to provide a sound academic grounding to prepare children for their secondary education. It reflects the requirements of the National Curriculum and ensures all children, regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability receive the education they are entitled to.

A range of visits to places of educational interest support children’s learning throughout the year which adds depth and breadth to studies beyond the classroom.

There is a strong emphasis on preparation for entrance examinations for Grammar schools and leading independent schools. Our excellent results and impressive number of scholarships awarded reflect our continued high standards of achievement.

Children continue to study the three core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, with many working at a level above that expected for their age.

In addition, further knowledge is developed and extended in the foundation subjects of Design and Technology, Computing, History, Geography, French, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Personal Social Health Education and Citizenship. Religious Education follows the Birmingham agreed syllabus. Specialist teachers take each class for Physical Education, French and Music.
